The Dirty Goat: 6% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Toning Solution

The Dirty Goat makes more than just amazing whipped scrubs and perfect all natural deo, she also makes fabulous skincare products! I have slowly been branching out and trying more of her skincare products, and the most recent one that I have been testing is the 6% AHA Toning Solution.

First off, can we talk about how she puts right on the label what percent the acid or active ingredient is in her formula? I love this! A lot of big skin care brands won’t disclose their % ‘s on their active ingredients in their formulas. I think it shows a lot of character and integrity that Erica discloses this to her customers.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid is said to help reduce wrinkles, smooth skin, and helps clear up discolored spots and acne. I use this toning solution after I wash my face and before my moisturizer. I have been using it for about a month and a half, which is about how long I like to give skincare to notice a difference, either positive or negative.

I am very happy to report that this toning solution does not break me out, which is always my biggest concern. It also does not irritate my skin, which I was worried about seeing as this is my first time using an AHA. With regular use, I do notice that my skin stays smooth, no more little bumps on my cheeks or forehead. This toning solution has also helped to fade some old acne scars, and kept new acne scars from forming. I have also noticed that my skin seems brighter, not the dull look it can sometimes get between facials.

This toning solution did not dry out my face, irritate my eyes or any dry patches on my skin. I did always follow up with a moisturizer, which helped continue to work this into my skin. It does have a sort of “chemically” smell but nothing that is super offensive, and the scent does not linger on the skin.

I believe that I paid around $20 for this product, which for the amount of product you get, 8.5 oz, and how little you need to cover a face, I think that is a very fair price. I would gladly repurchase this product, and I highly recommend anyone wanting to branch out into some acid toners, to give this a shot.

July Empties!

I am so excited to have some empties to share with you all! I have been using products, but it is nice to finally see some empties rolling through! Also, August is my BIRTHDAY month!! It is LEO season, and I am here for it! Any other August babies out there? Show some love in the comments!

Eva-Nyc Clean It Up Shampoo: This shampoo was nothing to write home about. I did not love it and I did not hate it. It cleaned my hair, but it did not do anything special. I would not repurchase it and I do not recommend it.

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Carousel Shower Gel: This was the first shower gel that Ahhh Sugar Sugar ever put out and it came out in a Box of Sugar! I have been holding on to this for years now, and I felt like it was time to use it up. I did enjoy this shower gel. It lathered nicely and moisturized the skin. I would not repurchase this though. I far prefer the bath frostings.

LUSH Kitchen Maypole Body Lotion: I love the LUSH Kitchen body lotions, and I wish they continued to make them. This lotion moisturized well, soaked into the skin and did not leave a greasy feeling. This smelled like sweet mint and the fragranced lingered on the skin throughout the day. I would definitely repurchase if this ever came out again.

The Dirty Goat Probiotic Deodorant: This is the ONLY deo that I use! This is simply the best on the market, and it is created by an amazing boss babe! I highly recommend this product and I will continue to repurchase this! Go check out my review of this here.

Amika Triple Rx Mask: I really enjoy Amika hair masks! This was super nourishing, moisturizing, and smelled amazing. This helped make my color treated, curly, frizzy hair more manageable and adds back a lot of moisture that my hair needed.

Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care Vitamin C Serum: I very much enjoyed this serum! This did wonders for my skin. It helped clear my skin up and keep my skin clear. I highly recommend this product and I will be repurchasing! Check out my full review of this

The Dirty Goat: State of Grace Face Oil

I have used and loved facial oils for years now. In high school and college, my mom and I would research different carrier oils, mixing oils and essential oils to use to make our own homemade facial moisturizer. Since then, I have started dabbling in trusted skin care brands that provide facial oils.

The Dirty Goat makes skin care, shower, and body products that are luxurious and homemade. She has the most unique and intriguing scent blends that will make you come back for more! But I digress, we are here for her State of Grace Face Oil!

State of Grace Face Oil is one of her OG products that she has been making for years. I remember in one of my first orders I placed with Erica, she put a sample of the State of Grace Face Oil in the order, and I knew that I wanted to try more of her skin care products.

State of Grace Face Oil is a thicker oil that is packed full of essential and skin healthy oils that nourish and moisturize the skin. I find that this oil is best for nighttime use, because it is a bit of a thicker oil that can take some time to sink into the skin. This face oil will leave your skin nourished throughout the night and into the next morning. This face oil does not break me out, helps to calm my skin, and actually reduces redness and inflammation with continued use.

Now let’s get into the ingredients! State of Grace is made up of nourishing oils that help moisturize and protect the skin. Jojoba oil helps regulate oil production and helps prevent clogged pores. Rice Bran oil helps to even out skin tone, reduce pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hemp seed oil has anti-aging properties to it. Argan oil helps to moisturize and soften the skin. Rosehip seed oil helps to correct dark spots and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E helps to block free radicals and keep your skin looking young. Evening Primrose oil helps to hydrate and prevent acne. Clary Sage helps to regulate oil production and reduce inflammation in the skin. Lavender Essential Oil is moisturizing and anti-bacterial which helps to prevent and treat acne.

Whew! When I said that this oil is PACKED full of amazing oils, I was not kidding. There is no filler ingredient in this bunch! Everything that has been put into this product has a reason and purpose. Products like this truly set The Dirty Goat apart from the others.

This oil is packaged in an 100% recycled plastic with a pump. This makes it easy to use, and helps protect the oils from light and air so they stay at their most effective and potent. This product cost $36 for 2oz. This is not a cheap product, but as you can see from the ingredient list, there is a reason for that. Also, 2 oz of face oil will go a long way, especially if only used at night.

I would highly recommend this product from The Dirty Goat if you are looking for a high quality face oil. You can find The Dirty Goat on Facebook and Instagram. Those are the best places to stay up to date on future restocks and make suggestions for products. Erica opens up her website, http://www.thedirtygoatsoapco.com almost weekly, during the pre-orders or restocks.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU! I appreciate all of you. Drop a comment down below if you have tried anything from The Dirty Goat or future reviews you would like to see me do! Have a great day, friends!

The Dirty Goat: Ever Since New York Shampoo and Shave Bar

Shampoo Bars are becoming increasing popular as a way to reduce plastic, provide multi-purpose uses, and often showcase specific hair-loving/skin-loving ingredients. I am very happy to see many of my favorite small business vendors creating their own versions of shampoo bars!

The Dirty Goat makes some of my favorite products, including the Probiotic Deodorant that I am always raving about, and has branched out to Shampoo Bars! I was very excited to try her shampoo bar, and see where she takes these new inventions and creations!

Her Shampoo Bar doubles as a Shave Soap! At first, I was very confused by this. Why would my Shampoo Bar be something that I rub on my legs for shaving? Most Shampoo Bars simply do not have that kind of softness or lather to them. This one does! This is the most moisturizing and nourishing lather that I have ever felt in any kind of shampoo, bar or not! It is luxurious and moisturizing, while giving your hair and scalp a deep clean. Most Shampoo Bars leave my curly hair feeling dry, but not this one! It provides a deep clean, while nourishing my hair and scalp. My curls are left moisturized and not frizzy, which is a huge plus in my book!

Now the scent! My word, does this smell good! Ever Since New York smells of sweet blackberries, tart lemons, and butter vanilla. To my nose I smell the sweet blackberries and warm vanilla at the front, with the tart lemon underneath it all to make it more rounded and not so sweet. This scent is amazing and fills the whole bathroom when warmed in the shower. I also love that I can take my hair down at the end of my day and get a hint of blackberry, lemon and vanilla! It is the little things in life 🙂

This Shampoo Bar is huge! It is a thick, solid bar that is 3 oz of love and comes in a biodegradable, compostable wrapper because that is The Dirty Goat, and they are awesome and care for our environment!

Go check out Erica and her amazing shop, The Dirty Goat. She makes her products with integrity and is super knowledgeable about ingredients and skincare! She is an amazing person inside and out, and I am happy to support her small business!

June Empties!

Well, another month has come and gone. We are officially halfway through the year, and it feels good! I am happy with where my stash is at and the amount of products that I have used up so far! We are mostly unpacked here at our new apartment, and I have all of my bath stuff put away and lookin’ pretty 🙂 I am enjoying our new space and it feels good to make it a home. Now onto the empties!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner: We buy these by the liter during the Ulta Liter Sale. This is my partners favorite shampoo and conditioner. He loves the way it makes his scalp tingly! I highly recommend this for anyone that is looking for a shampoo and conditioner to check this out. It really cleans the scalp and hair effectively without stripping the natural oils.

The Dirty Goat Probiotic Deodorant in Coven: The Dirty Goat makes the absolute best all-natural deodorant! She puts diatomaceous earth in her deodorant which pulls toxic metals out of your system. She also includes shea butter and probiotics to help nourish your skin. Coven is a warm, spicy scent that is perfect for winter. I will always recommend The Dirty Goat and any of her products, especially her deodorant!

Witch Baby Soap Candy Quartz Body Scrub: This was a lovely, sweet, bubblegum scent that was just delightful to use! It was a pink soft scrub that held pink iridescent shimmer and was so pretty to see on the skin! I love Witch Baby Soap scrubs! They are super moisturizing while also being a very effective scrub. I highly recommend giving any of her scrubs a try.

Shea Shea Bakery Lemon Pound Cake Body Butter: I enjoy Shea Shea Bakery Body Butter as a super moisturizing and nourishing hand cream. I do not enjoy this all over my skin. It is just too thick and moisturizing for my whole body. I will not be repurchasing this again, because I do not need to buy a product just to use it on my hands. The Lemon Pound Cake scent is amazing and I love anything lemon.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Dry Shampoo: I very much enjoyed this product and I felt like it worked well and lasted throughout the day. It smells very nice and sprays well. I always compare every Dry Shampoo to my tried and true favorite, NYM’s Dry Shampoo. I do not believe that this preformed better than NYM’s and it is more expensive. I might repurchase this if there is a sale again, because it was enjoyable to use and I did like it. What is your favorite Dry Shampoo?

The Dirty Goat Whipped Cleansing Scrub in Warhol: This has got to be one of my favorite scents that Erica has ever made! This watermelon lemonade scent is absolute perfection and smells perfectly of sweet watermelon and tart lemonade and is made for summer! Erica’s whipped cleansing scrubs are amazing! They are super thick and lather up while scrubbing away all the dead skin. I highly recommend and will continue to repurchase!

LUSH Shower Smoothie in Lush Lime: I order this from the Lush Kitchen about a year ago. The scent for this degraded fast. When I first got this product, it smelled of a sweet, tangy strawberry margarita. After a few months, it smelt of plastic and soap. My partner and I used it up, and enjoyed using it, but it did not have any amazing scent. It was very liquidy soap, that did not lather, and left a creamy moisturizing feel to the skin.

I did not have a huge month for empties, but that is to be expected with this whole move. I am sure in the coming months, I will have more empties as I get back into the swing of using my products again. I feel good with any amount of empties, as long as I feel good about the use and enjoyment I am getting out of my current rotation of products! What did everyone else use up this month? Did you guys have any favorite products in your empties this month?
