The Dirty Goat Sulfate Free Shampoo and Body Wash

I have been very interested in trying some of The Dirty Goat hair care products for some time now, and I was lucky enough to receive one of her sulfate free Shampoo and Body Wash in a recent mystery bag. I have been using this product on and off for a few weeks, and wanted to share my thoughts and experiences on this product.

This is scented in Bad At Love, which is a new to me scent and one that I really enjoy. It has scent notes of white washed woods, citrus leaves, vetiver, and tonka beans. It is a woodsy almost musky scent that is lifted by the citrus and sweetness of the tonka. Erica makes this product in all types of scents though, so if this scent is not for you don’t fret!

My first reaction to this product is that it is very liquidy, almost surprisingly so. Most shampoos and body washes have a level of thickness to them that this product is missing. I am not sure if that is because it is sulfate free or if that is just the formulation of Erica’s recipe. Either way, it is not a deal breaker for me and the product, just an observation.

I struggled to run this shampoo through my hair. It is like the product did not want to move from the one spot that it was put on my head and so I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get it to move throughout my hair enough for it is cover the majority of my head. This shampoo did cleanse my hair well, and did not leave my hair feeling overly dry or tangly like other sulfate free shampoos do, but it just did not seem to want to move through my hair. It was an odd experience, and one that I do not remember experiencing before with other shampoos. This could totally be user error, and I would love any thoughts you have on this product or others like it.

I have not tried this as a body wash, but I imagine that it would work just fine! It gives a nice cleansing experience. It is my understanding that this product is typically used as a shampoo, and not as a body wash, which is why I went the route of shampoo first.

I think this was a great dip into The Dirty Goat’s hair care products, and I am excited to continue to explore what Erica and her brand has to offer. The next product I am very interested in trying her sea salt shampoo! Have you tried this shampoo? What do you think? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments below! Thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

September Box of Sugar: If You’ve Got It, Haunt It

Halloween is an exciting time in the bath and body world! So many new releases and products to keep up with, it is overwhelming! Ahhh Sugar Sugar is doing a Halloween Mystery Box this year, which is VERY exciting! This Halloween themed Box of Sugar is beautiful and sets the tone wonderfully for the rest of October.

Fright Night Bath Bomb and Melt: Chocolate, carmel, and cinnamon, Oh my! I smelled this warm, comforting scent through the wrapper and I cannot wait to see how it performs in the tub! I am not normally a chocolate scented bath person, but this is blended so beautifully, I think it might break that rule!

Antidote Hand Soap: I LOVE Ahhh Sugar Sugar hand soaps! This comes at a perfect time, because I just used up my last bottle from them. This glows in the dark! Ahhh Sugar Sugar has done glow in the dark products before, and they always work so well! This is scented in sweet pumpkin, marshmallow, and creamy vanilla latte. I pick up the pumpkin and latte, and a spicy note that I was not expecting! This is a beautiful scent and I am excited to use this!

I Put A Spell On You Whipped Meringue: This is a hodgepodge of scents! This is scented in bubblegum, banana runts, cotton candy, and lemon drops. This scent is not for me; I do not like banana scents. To my nose, I get the artificial scent of bubblegum and cotton candy with the banana coming through at the end. I bet a lot of people will enjoy this scent!

Pick Your Poison Bath Frosting: This is a beautiful white frosting with a red center! I am really loving that look. This is scented in coca cola, blood orange, and vanilla ice cream. This is a different scent for me. It smells almost like a sweet vanilla coca cola float. It is a very light fragrance with nothing overpowering. I cannot wait to see how this smells warmed in the shower!

Ahhh Sugar Sugar generously supplied a coupon code in each BOS! I mean, how cool is that? Their 2019 Holiday pre-order is going on right now, so use that code and get 10% off of your holiday order! I know I will! What did you think of this month’s BOS? What are you looking for from this year’s holiday collection? Thank you for being here and reading my delightful ramblings.

August Box of Sugar: Excuse me while I kiss the sky.

Whoa, late posting of the Ahhh Sugar Sugar Box of Sugar! We are at the end of September, but better late than never! Did this month just totally fly by anyone else? Every time I would look at a calendar, I was shocked! It is just going to keep going, friends. We are about to hit the holidays, hold on tight! Now back to this BOS. I love the theme for this box! I am an August baby, and something about August always makes me think of the night sky. Those summer nights that seem to stretch on and on, and the peacefulness of the summer sky. You just cannot compare. I am glad that someone else thought to pair August with the night sky/galaxy.

Dark Side of the Moon Bath Frosting: This is a beautiful frosting that is made up of blue, purple, and white that are all swirled together to give us that galaxy effect. It has this amazing black label on it, with a cut out of the moon and a black hole. It is one of a kind. It is scented in crisp air, fresh rain, mandarin, and bergamot. It smells like the moments after a big summer storm. Anyone else know that scent? It has a slightly sweeter note from the mandarian, but the fresh rain and crisp air really make a statement. It is beautiful.

Nova Silky Dry Oil: I have recently gotten into dry oils, and they are amazing! This product does not leave you oily or greasy, but moisturizes the skin and leaves you feeling nourished. The scent also stays with the skin nicely, which is kinda surprising for how light the oil is. This is scented in earl grey tea, apple blossom, and pink champagne. I REALLY enjoy this scent and would love to see it back in the future. You get the apple and pink champagne, but it never gets too sweet. As you smell it, you might feel it getting too sweet, but the earl grey keeps everything balanced.

StarGazer Solid Bubble Bath: I have come to love Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s bubble bars. They always smell amazing, and they create such soft water and bubbles. This is colored after the bath frosting, and it is beautiful. This is scented in blue raspberry slushie, and smells just like the sweet candy scent. It will be nice to use this in a bath cocktail.

Galaxy Bath Bomb: Again, we have the purple and blue marbling, but with a little pink in the bomb. This is scented in neroli, ylang-ylang, black tea, black pepper, and peppermint. On cold, I get the neroli and ylang-ylang. I am excited to see if the peppermint and black tea/pepper come out in the tub. As with the bubble bars, their bath bombs perform amazingly in the tub.

StarDust Biodegradable Bath Dust: This is a vial of silver fine glitter that looks a little like moon or star dust. This will be fun to play with in the tub, and is such a fun little extra in this box. We are also reminded how amazing Ahhh Sugar Sugar is to the environment and pets. A company I can stand behind.

I really loved this box, and the overall theme. Some of the scents in this box are ones that I would love to see again! It is also exciting that in just a few weeks I will be receiving the September box! Sometimes it is good to do things a little late! What did you think of this month’s Box of Sugar? As always, thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

May Box of Sugar: Thirty AF

Ahhh Sugar Sugar has really been expanding their horizons with different types of products than they have made before, but while still staying within their brand. It is very cool and exciting to see them expand their product line, while continuing to make their tried and true products that everyone knows and loves!

The April’s Box of Sugar focused on very natural and fresh products. This month’s box of sugar has all new items in it as well, all centered around pampering yourself! Traditionally, the May Box of Sugar is a birthday theme box because the founder of Ahhh Sugar Sugar, Haley, birthday is in May.

The first new product featured in this box is an invigorating scalp shampoo and scrub called Clarify This. I have been extremely interested in these types of products lately, but have not taken the plunge and tried them. Now I get to! So far, I have heard nothing but good things about this product, and I cannot wait to try it and see what it does for my scalp. I have very long hair, that can tend to go flat throughout the day, and I am curious to see if this product can help with that at all. The scent notes for this product have not been revealed to us yet, but it smells very similar to a scent from another indie vendor. To my nose, I smell lemon, blackberry and vanilla, and I am HERE for it!

Next up, Geode Bomb: a sea salt bath bomb! This bomb is lovely and simplicist, topped with a generous amount of sea salt. This has a very nice floral scent with a fruity touch. I am very excited to drop this in my new tub and relax!

Cake in a Jar, body and soap scrub, is a twist on two of their classic products. They took their infamous body frosting and layered it with their AH-mazing sugar scrub to make a fun new shower and bath treat! To top it all off, it is scented in Birthday Suit, how fitting! Birthday Suit has scent notes of fruit loops, birthday cake, jasmine, and clary sage. To my nose, I get the sweet bakery smell that is grounded by the clary sage and jasmine. I very much enjoy this scent, and I am glad to have it back in my collection!

Wake Your Face Up energizing facial moisturizer. This is a VERY new product that I was not expecting to see from Ahhh Sugar Sugar, but am so happy to see them step into this space. This moisturizer is said to have caffeine extract to help “wake up your face” (get it?) It also has lemon essential oil, beet root extract, and aloe vera gel, all of which are very good for brightening and moisturizing your skin. This smells like a lemon. Just a pure lemon scent, which I do not find overwhelming on my face at all. This does seem a little heavy on my skin, but I also have very oily skin and it is the middle of summer, so anything I put on my face seems heavy. I will continue to use this, and make a dedicated review later. What do you think of this product so far?

Cake Face Mask, a wet and dry customizable duo mask. Now that I think about it, I am surprised we have not seen a mask from Ahhh Sugar Sugar before! If we have, please correct me in the comment section down below! This mask has french green clay and kaolin clay separated from organic aloe vera gel. Them being separated allows you to make a fresh mask in the amount that you want anytime you would like to use this product. I enjoy clay masks as spot treatments and on my nose, and I cannot wait to use this! Again, I will do a dedicated review of this product at a later date.

I feel as though I say this in every Box of Sugar review, but I am blown away! Ahhh Sugar Sugar continues to step up their game and make amazing new products every month! I am telling you guys, Ahhh Sugar Sugar is makin’ some moves! Ya’ll better watch out! I am very excited to see where they go, and how they continue to incorporate the new products in with the old favorites. What do you guys think of this month’s Box of Sugar? What do you think of all that Ahhh Sugar Sugar has been doing lately?

The Dirty Goat: State of Grace Face Oil

I have used and loved facial oils for years now. In high school and college, my mom and I would research different carrier oils, mixing oils and essential oils to use to make our own homemade facial moisturizer. Since then, I have started dabbling in trusted skin care brands that provide facial oils.

The Dirty Goat makes skin care, shower, and body products that are luxurious and homemade. She has the most unique and intriguing scent blends that will make you come back for more! But I digress, we are here for her State of Grace Face Oil!

State of Grace Face Oil is one of her OG products that she has been making for years. I remember in one of my first orders I placed with Erica, she put a sample of the State of Grace Face Oil in the order, and I knew that I wanted to try more of her skin care products.

State of Grace Face Oil is a thicker oil that is packed full of essential and skin healthy oils that nourish and moisturize the skin. I find that this oil is best for nighttime use, because it is a bit of a thicker oil that can take some time to sink into the skin. This face oil will leave your skin nourished throughout the night and into the next morning. This face oil does not break me out, helps to calm my skin, and actually reduces redness and inflammation with continued use.

Now let’s get into the ingredients! State of Grace is made up of nourishing oils that help moisturize and protect the skin. Jojoba oil helps regulate oil production and helps prevent clogged pores. Rice Bran oil helps to even out skin tone, reduce pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hemp seed oil has anti-aging properties to it. Argan oil helps to moisturize and soften the skin. Rosehip seed oil helps to correct dark spots and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E helps to block free radicals and keep your skin looking young. Evening Primrose oil helps to hydrate and prevent acne. Clary Sage helps to regulate oil production and reduce inflammation in the skin. Lavender Essential Oil is moisturizing and anti-bacterial which helps to prevent and treat acne.

Whew! When I said that this oil is PACKED full of amazing oils, I was not kidding. There is no filler ingredient in this bunch! Everything that has been put into this product has a reason and purpose. Products like this truly set The Dirty Goat apart from the others.

This oil is packaged in an 100% recycled plastic with a pump. This makes it easy to use, and helps protect the oils from light and air so they stay at their most effective and potent. This product cost $36 for 2oz. This is not a cheap product, but as you can see from the ingredient list, there is a reason for that. Also, 2 oz of face oil will go a long way, especially if only used at night.

I would highly recommend this product from The Dirty Goat if you are looking for a high quality face oil. You can find The Dirty Goat on Facebook and Instagram. Those are the best places to stay up to date on future restocks and make suggestions for products. Erica opens up her website, http://www.thedirtygoatsoapco.com almost weekly, during the pre-orders or restocks.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU! I appreciate all of you. Drop a comment down below if you have tried anything from The Dirty Goat or future reviews you would like to see me do! Have a great day, friends!

July Empties!

Another month has come and gone, and I am feeling good about the size of my stash and the amount of products I am using and enjoying! It is important to be happy with the size of your stash, and that you enjoy using your products and getting use out of them. If not, then what is the point, Ya feel me?

Neutrogena Extra Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads: I did not think that I would like these, but I actually enjoyed them very much and would like to repurchase them! They are super easy to use, are big enough to cover both eyes, and have enough cleanser on them that they do not dry out. I highly recommend giving these a shot!

LUSH Aqua Marina: My holy grail facial cleanser! I won’t beat a dead horse, but I highly recommend this cleanser! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Bath Frosting in Put On Your Birthday Suit: I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar Bath Frostings! They are super luxurious, lather extremely well, and last forever. I always feel like a queen when using these products! Put On Your Birthday Suit smells amazing! It has scent notes of birthday cake, sage, fruit loops, and jasmine. I would definitely repurchase this product!

Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo: This was a very nice dry shampoo! It was volumizing, smelled nice, and left my hair feeling clean. I did feel like I needed to use a lot of product to get the effect that I wanted, which I did not enjoy. I will not be repurchasing this dry shampoo. I enjoy other dry shampoos more, and that are more affordable.

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringue in Lemon Rose: I loved this! It smelled of fizzy lemons, sugar, and a hint of floral. I love Whipped Meringues. They are super moisturizing and the scent lasts for days on the skin. I highly recommend giving these a shot, and I will be repurchasing!

N०7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes: I enjoyed these! I am pretty picky about face wipes, but these were not bad! They had enough cleanser, so they were all equally saturated, and they did not leave a weird film on my face. They did not get all of my makeup off, which is a con, but they were decent. I would look into repurchasing these wipes.

We finished a candle! Scentsational in Midnight Woods: My partner loved this and used this in his office when he was gaming or working. It was a very nice scent. It smelled of plum, cedar wood, and amber. It is soy wax which is our preference for wax. We would definitely repurchase!

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringue in Cabana Boy: Can you tell that I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar and their Whipped Meringues?! I didn’t love this scent at first, but it really grew on me. I kept this on my bedside table, and it was a nice relaxing scent to use at night. It smells of black peppercorn and cherry. Guys, try these lotions!

July Box of Sugar: Red, White, and Cute!

OH. MMM. GEE. Can Ahhh Sugar Sugar do no wrong? They can’t!! They continue to knock it out of the park and blow me away!! They exceed every expectation and standard that this subscription box has come to represent, and it has come to be a very major thing in the bath and body world! This subscription box has come to be one of the most coveted and sought after subscription box in the indie community and for good reason! Haley and the Sugar Shack crew make the most creative and inventive products for their Box of Sugar. They are also always so generous each month by including mostly (if not all) full-sized products. All of these things, make this a top notch subscription box and one that you should get in on! Now onto the products!

Resting Beach Face Whipped Meringue: As you know, I am a huge fan of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s Whipped Meringue! It is super fluffy and moisturizing, without leaving your skin feeling greasy. You can feel the moisturizing properties and smell the scent notes on your skin for two days after application! It is a pretty amazing product! Resting Beach Face smells of the Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Lotion, and they got it spot on! It is all coconut, suntan lotion, and vacation!

Jessica, Tu As Mon Coeur Bath Frosting: Man, I do not know who this Jessica girl is, but she must be one bomb-a** girl to have TWO amazing scents created after her! This new “Jessica” scent in English means “Jessica, you have my heart.” It is scented with blackberries, apples, melon, and sugar. Right away, I get scent notes of apples and sweet melons, with the tart blackberries behind it all. Bath Frostings are one of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s most creative and popular products. They are whipped soap with added sugar for extra exfoliation. They are extremely luxurious, lather very well and last forever!

Not Your Grannie’s Key Lime Pie Solid Shampoo Bar: GUYS!! A solid Shampoo Bar! Can you believe it?! I am so excited to try this, I just can’t even handle it! This has scent notes of lime, lemongrass, and sugar cookie crunch. To my nose, on cold, this smells a lot like avo bath bomb from LUSH. I am super excited to smell this in the heat of the shower, and see how the scent warms. This Shampoo Bar is huge and sounds like a real winner! Haley also included a soap saver with this shampoo bar, which is so thoughtful and extra! I love it!

‘Merica Bath Bomb Sprinkles: I love products like this! They are fun, cute products that easily upgrade the quality of your bath! These sprinkles come in a great little shaker container and smell amazing! Under the scent notes it says: equality is the soul of liberty. I get a light, fruity scent that I believe will pair well with almost any bath.

United Premium Bath Oil: I very much enjoy Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s bath oils. They are super luxurious and moisturizing and add a special touch to the bath. They also come in a cute little bear bottle. United has scent notes of amber, sandalwood, lavender, thyme, and musk. It is a very nice unisex fragrance and smells like a herbal garden. It is amazing and I cannot wait to add it to a bath! My partner will love this scent as well!

Again, I cannot say enough good things about Ahhh Sugar Sugar and their Box of Sugar subscription box! You get all the bang for your buck while trying brand new scents, old favorites and new inventions! What did you think of this month’s Box of Sugar?
