The Dirty Goat: Ever Since New York Shampoo and Shave Bar

Shampoo Bars are becoming increasing popular as a way to reduce plastic, provide multi-purpose uses, and often showcase specific hair-loving/skin-loving ingredients. I am very happy to see many of my favorite small business vendors creating their own versions of shampoo bars!

The Dirty Goat makes some of my favorite products, including the Probiotic Deodorant that I am always raving about, and has branched out to Shampoo Bars! I was very excited to try her shampoo bar, and see where she takes these new inventions and creations!

Her Shampoo Bar doubles as a Shave Soap! At first, I was very confused by this. Why would my Shampoo Bar be something that I rub on my legs for shaving? Most Shampoo Bars simply do not have that kind of softness or lather to them. This one does! This is the most moisturizing and nourishing lather that I have ever felt in any kind of shampoo, bar or not! It is luxurious and moisturizing, while giving your hair and scalp a deep clean. Most Shampoo Bars leave my curly hair feeling dry, but not this one! It provides a deep clean, while nourishing my hair and scalp. My curls are left moisturized and not frizzy, which is a huge plus in my book!

Now the scent! My word, does this smell good! Ever Since New York smells of sweet blackberries, tart lemons, and butter vanilla. To my nose I smell the sweet blackberries and warm vanilla at the front, with the tart lemon underneath it all to make it more rounded and not so sweet. This scent is amazing and fills the whole bathroom when warmed in the shower. I also love that I can take my hair down at the end of my day and get a hint of blackberry, lemon and vanilla! It is the little things in life 🙂

This Shampoo Bar is huge! It is a thick, solid bar that is 3 oz of love and comes in a biodegradable, compostable wrapper because that is The Dirty Goat, and they are awesome and care for our environment!

Go check out Erica and her amazing shop, The Dirty Goat. She makes her products with integrity and is super knowledgeable about ingredients and skincare! She is an amazing person inside and out, and I am happy to support her small business!

July Box of Sugar: Red, White, and Cute!

OH. MMM. GEE. Can Ahhh Sugar Sugar do no wrong? They can’t!! They continue to knock it out of the park and blow me away!! They exceed every expectation and standard that this subscription box has come to represent, and it has come to be a very major thing in the bath and body world! This subscription box has come to be one of the most coveted and sought after subscription box in the indie community and for good reason! Haley and the Sugar Shack crew make the most creative and inventive products for their Box of Sugar. They are also always so generous each month by including mostly (if not all) full-sized products. All of these things, make this a top notch subscription box and one that you should get in on! Now onto the products!

Resting Beach Face Whipped Meringue: As you know, I am a huge fan of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s Whipped Meringue! It is super fluffy and moisturizing, without leaving your skin feeling greasy. You can feel the moisturizing properties and smell the scent notes on your skin for two days after application! It is a pretty amazing product! Resting Beach Face smells of the Hawaiian Tropic Suntan Lotion, and they got it spot on! It is all coconut, suntan lotion, and vacation!

Jessica, Tu As Mon Coeur Bath Frosting: Man, I do not know who this Jessica girl is, but she must be one bomb-a** girl to have TWO amazing scents created after her! This new “Jessica” scent in English means “Jessica, you have my heart.” It is scented with blackberries, apples, melon, and sugar. Right away, I get scent notes of apples and sweet melons, with the tart blackberries behind it all. Bath Frostings are one of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s most creative and popular products. They are whipped soap with added sugar for extra exfoliation. They are extremely luxurious, lather very well and last forever!

Not Your Grannie’s Key Lime Pie Solid Shampoo Bar: GUYS!! A solid Shampoo Bar! Can you believe it?! I am so excited to try this, I just can’t even handle it! This has scent notes of lime, lemongrass, and sugar cookie crunch. To my nose, on cold, this smells a lot like avo bath bomb from LUSH. I am super excited to smell this in the heat of the shower, and see how the scent warms. This Shampoo Bar is huge and sounds like a real winner! Haley also included a soap saver with this shampoo bar, which is so thoughtful and extra! I love it!

‘Merica Bath Bomb Sprinkles: I love products like this! They are fun, cute products that easily upgrade the quality of your bath! These sprinkles come in a great little shaker container and smell amazing! Under the scent notes it says: equality is the soul of liberty. I get a light, fruity scent that I believe will pair well with almost any bath.

United Premium Bath Oil: I very much enjoy Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s bath oils. They are super luxurious and moisturizing and add a special touch to the bath. They also come in a cute little bear bottle. United has scent notes of amber, sandalwood, lavender, thyme, and musk. It is a very nice unisex fragrance and smells like a herbal garden. It is amazing and I cannot wait to add it to a bath! My partner will love this scent as well!

Again, I cannot say enough good things about Ahhh Sugar Sugar and their Box of Sugar subscription box! You get all the bang for your buck while trying brand new scents, old favorites and new inventions! What did you think of this month’s Box of Sugar?

June Empties!

Well, another month has come and gone. We are officially halfway through the year, and it feels good! I am happy with where my stash is at and the amount of products that I have used up so far! We are mostly unpacked here at our new apartment, and I have all of my bath stuff put away and lookin’ pretty 🙂 I am enjoying our new space and it feels good to make it a home. Now onto the empties!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner: We buy these by the liter during the Ulta Liter Sale. This is my partners favorite shampoo and conditioner. He loves the way it makes his scalp tingly! I highly recommend this for anyone that is looking for a shampoo and conditioner to check this out. It really cleans the scalp and hair effectively without stripping the natural oils.

The Dirty Goat Probiotic Deodorant in Coven: The Dirty Goat makes the absolute best all-natural deodorant! She puts diatomaceous earth in her deodorant which pulls toxic metals out of your system. She also includes shea butter and probiotics to help nourish your skin. Coven is a warm, spicy scent that is perfect for winter. I will always recommend The Dirty Goat and any of her products, especially her deodorant!

Witch Baby Soap Candy Quartz Body Scrub: This was a lovely, sweet, bubblegum scent that was just delightful to use! It was a pink soft scrub that held pink iridescent shimmer and was so pretty to see on the skin! I love Witch Baby Soap scrubs! They are super moisturizing while also being a very effective scrub. I highly recommend giving any of her scrubs a try.

Shea Shea Bakery Lemon Pound Cake Body Butter: I enjoy Shea Shea Bakery Body Butter as a super moisturizing and nourishing hand cream. I do not enjoy this all over my skin. It is just too thick and moisturizing for my whole body. I will not be repurchasing this again, because I do not need to buy a product just to use it on my hands. The Lemon Pound Cake scent is amazing and I love anything lemon.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Dry Shampoo: I very much enjoyed this product and I felt like it worked well and lasted throughout the day. It smells very nice and sprays well. I always compare every Dry Shampoo to my tried and true favorite, NYM’s Dry Shampoo. I do not believe that this preformed better than NYM’s and it is more expensive. I might repurchase this if there is a sale again, because it was enjoyable to use and I did like it. What is your favorite Dry Shampoo?

The Dirty Goat Whipped Cleansing Scrub in Warhol: This has got to be one of my favorite scents that Erica has ever made! This watermelon lemonade scent is absolute perfection and smells perfectly of sweet watermelon and tart lemonade and is made for summer! Erica’s whipped cleansing scrubs are amazing! They are super thick and lather up while scrubbing away all the dead skin. I highly recommend and will continue to repurchase!

LUSH Shower Smoothie in Lush Lime: I order this from the Lush Kitchen about a year ago. The scent for this degraded fast. When I first got this product, it smelled of a sweet, tangy strawberry margarita. After a few months, it smelt of plastic and soap. My partner and I used it up, and enjoyed using it, but it did not have any amazing scent. It was very liquidy soap, that did not lather, and left a creamy moisturizing feel to the skin.

I did not have a huge month for empties, but that is to be expected with this whole move. I am sure in the coming months, I will have more empties as I get back into the swing of using my products again. I feel good with any amount of empties, as long as I feel good about the use and enjoyment I am getting out of my current rotation of products! What did everyone else use up this month? Did you guys have any favorite products in your empties this month?

Life Update: Moving States, New Jobs, Apartment Craziness

To say that the last few months have been a whirlwind would be an understatement. We have been living in a state of transition. The majority of our belongs have been in one state in our old apartment, and we have been living with family in a new state, starting new jobs and waiting for our new apartment to open up. We have finally gotten the keys to our new place, and have made our final move with all of our stuff, and we just happened to do it on the hottest day of the year!

We have been anticipating this move for several months now, and are very excited for this new beginning and all that it can bring! My fiance is starting graduate school and a new job, and I have taken a new management position at a different restaurant. A lot of new beginnings which is very exciting and scary all at the same time!

My fiance has been a total champ through this whole process. He is the most patient and hardworking man that I know, and I am so lucky that he is my partner in this crazy life. We have been very blessed by our family and friends through this whole process, helping whenever and wherever they can and I do not know we got so lucky to have such amazing people in our life.

I have many plans for this space, but have been inactive due to all this moving craziness. Our apartment is currently in boxes, and I am sitting in a Barnes and Noble typing this post because we do not yet have wifi. I am enjoying all of this transition, but I must say, it will be nice once we have more our stuff put away and feel a bit more comfortable in the new town.

I hope you enjoyed this small life update. We will be back to our regular programing with June Empties and June Box of Sugar posts coming next! Thank you for sticking around and I hope everyone’s summers have been amazing so far!

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk

Let’s talk first step cleansers! I use first step cleansers to help melt my away my makeup and give my facial cleanser a chance to actually clean my skin and pores. What are first step cleansers? I use cleansing oils/balms/milks as my first step cleanser. They usually have oils and butters in them that help to break down and melt away makeup, even liquid foundation and waterproof mascara. I have really found that using first step cleansers has allowed my facial cleansers to be more effective!

I did not have high hopes for Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk. I love their body care items, but I did not believe that they could do skincare. Man, did they surprise me! This cleansing milk breaks down all of my makeup, even waterproof mascara, and gives my skin a nice clean base for my facial cleanser to work. Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk is not harsh and does not strip the skin like some facial oils can do. It smells lightly of peaches and leaves a faint minty/tingly feeling on the skin.

Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk has peach and goji berry extract in it that is high in antioxidants and vitamins A and C which is important for cell renewal. It also has Oxyginseng Technology that is an organic complex that helps increase circulation and cell respiration, and also speeds oxygen and nutrient delivery to help fight aging and re-energize skin. I believe this is why my skin feels slightly minty/tingly when I use this product! This technology is increasing my circulation and oxygen levels in my skin so that it can receive those nutrients quicker and more effectively.

This product comes in a pump, which is just amazing! You can control how much product you get, and it is super easy to use. It also is super cost effective! Most first step cleansers that I buy are around $20 and I get less than 8 oz of product. Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk is $12 and you get over 11 oz of product. Talk about awesome! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking into a new first step cleanser to try or would just like a quick and easy way to remove makeup. What first step cleansers do you use or how do you like to remove your makeup at night? Let me know in the comments!

May Box of Sugar: Happy Birthday, Uni-mer-cat!

It is that time of month again, Box of Sugar review time! This has been a much anticipated box for everyone that has been following along in the Facebook group! In this month’s box, we received 2 brand spankin’ new products along with the first ever soy wax candle to be featured in a box, and a regular line product. I am sad to say, I am pretty disappointed by this Box of Sugar though. I will explain why down below, so keep reading! If you loved this Box, I am so glad! All the reviews I have seen so far have all been positive, but everyone is different and allowed their own opinions. Now, onto the fun!

The first product is one of their new inventions; Fluff! This is their newest whipped soap scented in their very popular Yasss Hunny scent. I am not thrilled with this product, and it is mainly because of the packaging. I am so used to and spoiled by the frosted glass jars or even the plastic jars, that this plastic tub they gave us doesn’t jive well with me. This reminds me of a margarita salt container! The soap looks great, and I am sure it performs beautifully, but I cannot get over the packaging. The scent smells amazing, all orange, cake, and mallow. This is a popular scent for a reason! I get a strong scent of the soap through the fragrance though, so I am curious to see how that plays in the heat of the shower.

Fantasea Solid Bubble Bar is a beautifully crafted mermaid tail, that smells like coconut, fruit and musk. I cannot wait to get this in my bath and see how blue it makes my water! My mermaid tale came broken, but that is okay, I will be cutting it all up anyway!

We have another new product with Blueberry Yum Yum Lustre Custard. This is their famous custard recipe with lots of added shimmer to make this beautiful product! I love a good shimmer body lotion, and I do not feel like there are enough of these products on the market. Blueberry Yum Yum is supposed to smell like Blueberry donuts and coconut sprinkles. I smell sun tan lotion. I love the scent of Blueberry, and I am not a big fan of coconut. The scent may change over time though. We also got just a little baby 2 oz size. Most boxes in the past, I feel as if we have gotten at least 4 oz sizes.

Put on your Birthday Suit Soy Candle: This is a collaboration with the The Barn at Post Oak. I am so excited to receive a candle, and I love this scent! This smells of sweet birthday cake, with grounding sage to take the edge off. This is my favorite product from this month’s box! My unicorn did come not attached to my lid, but that is okay, I can hot glue it. I still have their Birthday Suit Bath Frosting from last years Box of Sugar!

Overall, I think that this box has amazing ideas and creations, they just weren’t really for me. With the packaging of the fluff and the size of the Lustre Custard, I do not feel like we got an amazing value for our dollar. The candle is amazing, as is the bubble bar, but they can’t carry the whole box. I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar, and continue to support and promote them on my pages, but this just wasn’t for me, and that is okay. I would love to hear your thoughts on this month’s Box of Sugar! Were you disappointed or blown away?

DERMA-E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum

This is the first Vitamin C serum that I have ever tried, and I have to say, I am very impressed! I can definitely feel and see an improvement in my skin! My skin feels and looks smoother; I know longer have texture on my cheeks or forehead. My skin tone is visibly brighter and more even, so much so, that my friends and coworkers have even noticed! I was worried that it would break out my sensitive skin, but after the first few days, I have not had any issues!

The DERMA-E website says that this Vitamin C is a concentrated serum that will help brighten skin, boost collagen health, minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and approve the appearance of uneven skin tone. It has Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Aloe and other nutrient packed ingredients for your skin!

I use this at night after I wash my face. I apply my toner, use 1-2 pumps of DERMA-E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum all over my face, down my neck and on my decollete and then apply my moisturizer. One word of warning, this serum will leave you feeling tacky if you use it on it’s own, but when used with another product it absorbs easily into your skin without leaving behind any residue or a tacky feeling.

This product retails for $18.38, which I think is an amazing price for a Vitamin C serum, especially to simply try one out. I would highly recommend this product for anyone that is curious about Vitamin C products and wants to see how their skin reacts to it!

I do want to state that this is not the only treatment that I do on my skin. I get regular chemical peels and facials, which allow this Vitamin C serum to be more effective and potent for my skin. I highly recommend looking into professional grade skincare treatments for the health and wellness of you skin!
