The Dirty Goat Sulfate Free Shampoo and Body Wash

I have been very interested in trying some of The Dirty Goat hair care products for some time now, and I was lucky enough to receive one of her sulfate free Shampoo and Body Wash in a recent mystery bag. I have been using this product on and off for a few weeks, and wanted to share my thoughts and experiences on this product.

This is scented in Bad At Love, which is a new to me scent and one that I really enjoy. It has scent notes of white washed woods, citrus leaves, vetiver, and tonka beans. It is a woodsy almost musky scent that is lifted by the citrus and sweetness of the tonka. Erica makes this product in all types of scents though, so if this scent is not for you don’t fret!

My first reaction to this product is that it is very liquidy, almost surprisingly so. Most shampoos and body washes have a level of thickness to them that this product is missing. I am not sure if that is because it is sulfate free or if that is just the formulation of Erica’s recipe. Either way, it is not a deal breaker for me and the product, just an observation.

I struggled to run this shampoo through my hair. It is like the product did not want to move from the one spot that it was put on my head and so I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get it to move throughout my hair enough for it is cover the majority of my head. This shampoo did cleanse my hair well, and did not leave my hair feeling overly dry or tangly like other sulfate free shampoos do, but it just did not seem to want to move through my hair. It was an odd experience, and one that I do not remember experiencing before with other shampoos. This could totally be user error, and I would love any thoughts you have on this product or others like it.

I have not tried this as a body wash, but I imagine that it would work just fine! It gives a nice cleansing experience. It is my understanding that this product is typically used as a shampoo, and not as a body wash, which is why I went the route of shampoo first.

I think this was a great dip into The Dirty Goat’s hair care products, and I am excited to continue to explore what Erica and her brand has to offer. The next product I am very interested in trying her sea salt shampoo! Have you tried this shampoo? What do you think? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments below! Thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

September Box of Sugar: If You’ve Got It, Haunt It

Halloween is an exciting time in the bath and body world! So many new releases and products to keep up with, it is overwhelming! Ahhh Sugar Sugar is doing a Halloween Mystery Box this year, which is VERY exciting! This Halloween themed Box of Sugar is beautiful and sets the tone wonderfully for the rest of October.

Fright Night Bath Bomb and Melt: Chocolate, carmel, and cinnamon, Oh my! I smelled this warm, comforting scent through the wrapper and I cannot wait to see how it performs in the tub! I am not normally a chocolate scented bath person, but this is blended so beautifully, I think it might break that rule!

Antidote Hand Soap: I LOVE Ahhh Sugar Sugar hand soaps! This comes at a perfect time, because I just used up my last bottle from them. This glows in the dark! Ahhh Sugar Sugar has done glow in the dark products before, and they always work so well! This is scented in sweet pumpkin, marshmallow, and creamy vanilla latte. I pick up the pumpkin and latte, and a spicy note that I was not expecting! This is a beautiful scent and I am excited to use this!

I Put A Spell On You Whipped Meringue: This is a hodgepodge of scents! This is scented in bubblegum, banana runts, cotton candy, and lemon drops. This scent is not for me; I do not like banana scents. To my nose, I get the artificial scent of bubblegum and cotton candy with the banana coming through at the end. I bet a lot of people will enjoy this scent!

Pick Your Poison Bath Frosting: This is a beautiful white frosting with a red center! I am really loving that look. This is scented in coca cola, blood orange, and vanilla ice cream. This is a different scent for me. It smells almost like a sweet vanilla coca cola float. It is a very light fragrance with nothing overpowering. I cannot wait to see how this smells warmed in the shower!

Ahhh Sugar Sugar generously supplied a coupon code in each BOS! I mean, how cool is that? Their 2019 Holiday pre-order is going on right now, so use that code and get 10% off of your holiday order! I know I will! What did you think of this month’s BOS? What are you looking for from this year’s holiday collection? Thank you for being here and reading my delightful ramblings.

August Empties!

It will be a short and sweet empties post for this month. I believe this is the first time I have had a month of products where everything I finished up I loved and would recommend! These are some tried and true favorite right here from tried and true vendors.

Hallo Queen Whipped Meringue from Ahhh Sugar Sugar: I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringues! They are highly scented, super moisturizing lotions that keep my dry skin from cracking! Hallo Queen smells like amazing maple apples! Everytime I put it on, someone is always commenting on how edible in smells.

The Dirty Goat Raspberry, Strawberry, Guava Goat Milk and Honey Body Lotion: This is a super lux lotion, with it’s high quality glass jar. It is very light and silky while still being moisturizing enough for the dry skin on my hands. I used this throughout the summer months, and it was perfect. This scent is just sweet and fruity enough without being overpowering. I look forward to enjoying this scent again next summer.

LUSH Aqua Marina Face Cleanser: This is my holy grail face cleanser. I do a double cleanser every night, and this is the second cleanser that I use in that system. This is perfect for my super sensitive, combination, acne prone skin. It does not cause me to break out, does not dry out my dry spots, keeps my oily spots from becoming too oily, and just overall cleanses my skin. I have been using this for years, and I cannot imagine using anything else at this point.

Lemon Mint Grass Hand Soap from Ahhh Sugar Sugar: I loved this hand soap! It was super gentle, beautiful and smelled amazing! I very much enjoyed using it and I would gladly repurchase.

I was a little upset when I realized that I did not have a lot of empties this month, but then I checked out what I have in use, and I have a lot of products that are close to being finished. I love when I am able to use up a product and move it out of my stash, and am able to put another product in use, it is like a high! Anyone else feel me? If you do, I recommend checking out A Beauty Guru Made Me Do It, all one word though, on Instagram and Youtube. She is amazing with project pans and empties posts!

How did everyone else do this month? Are you happy with what you used up and moved out, and most of all, did you enjoy what you used? I know I did! Thank you for being here, and I hope you enjoyed my delightful ramblings.

Detanglers

I do not buy detanglers, nor do I normally use them. Even when I was a child, I do not remember my mother using detanglers on my sisters and I. This all started when I received a detangler in a Box of Sugar from Ahhh Sugar Sugar. Then I received another one. I started noticing detanglers from different indie brands, and I got curious. So I purchased a detangler from The Dirty Goat on a Facebook Destash group, and I started testing that one out. I received another one in a mystery grab bag. So for someone who does not purchase or normally use detanglers, I am up to my ears in them!

I have been comparing the detanglers from my two favorite indie brands, The Dirty Goat and Ahhh Sugar Sugar. They both work and perform beautifully, but there are noticeable differences in the product that I love and want to share with you.

Both companies detanglers work well to detangle hair for an easier brushing experience. Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s does what it says it is going to do. It detangles without leaving your hair feeling oily or heavy, or like you have any extra product in it. I do not feel like I have to be too careful about the product not hitting my roots; though with any product that has added oil in it, it is best to keep away from your roots. The scents from Ahhh Sugar Sugar are stronger and linger in my hair for longer than The Dirty Goat’s, which is an added perk of using a detangler.

The Dirty Goat’s detanglers have a much more noticeable amount of oil in them than the other detanglers that I have tried. This product works quicker than Ahhh Sugar Sugars, because of the high oil content, but you have to be very careful to only put this at the ends of your hair and to stay away from your roots. This detangler feels more like a leave-in conditioning treatment to my hair; it leaves my hair feeling noticeably softer and smoother. I cannot get second day hair if I use this product, because of all the added nourishing oils from the detangler. The scents for these products are lovely, but not as strong as Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s, nor do they linger as long.

Overall, I love both products and I enjoy that they are different! They offer me different uses, which I would normally not have, and I value the different things they do for my hair. Are there other detanglers that I should try? What are some of your favorites? As always, thank you. Thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

The Dirty Goat: 6% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Toning Solution

The Dirty Goat makes more than just amazing whipped scrubs and perfect all natural deo, she also makes fabulous skincare products! I have slowly been branching out and trying more of her skincare products, and the most recent one that I have been testing is the 6% AHA Toning Solution.

First off, can we talk about how she puts right on the label what percent the acid or active ingredient is in her formula? I love this! A lot of big skin care brands won’t disclose their % ‘s on their active ingredients in their formulas. I think it shows a lot of character and integrity that Erica discloses this to her customers.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid is said to help reduce wrinkles, smooth skin, and helps clear up discolored spots and acne. I use this toning solution after I wash my face and before my moisturizer. I have been using it for about a month and a half, which is about how long I like to give skincare to notice a difference, either positive or negative.

I am very happy to report that this toning solution does not break me out, which is always my biggest concern. It also does not irritate my skin, which I was worried about seeing as this is my first time using an AHA. With regular use, I do notice that my skin stays smooth, no more little bumps on my cheeks or forehead. This toning solution has also helped to fade some old acne scars, and kept new acne scars from forming. I have also noticed that my skin seems brighter, not the dull look it can sometimes get between facials.

This toning solution did not dry out my face, irritate my eyes or any dry patches on my skin. I did always follow up with a moisturizer, which helped continue to work this into my skin. It does have a sort of “chemically” smell but nothing that is super offensive, and the scent does not linger on the skin.

I believe that I paid around $20 for this product, which for the amount of product you get, 8.5 oz, and how little you need to cover a face, I think that is a very fair price. I would gladly repurchase this product, and I highly recommend anyone wanting to branch out into some acid toners, to give this a shot.

To stay up to date on current pre-orders and restocks, I suggest following The Dirty Goat’s facebook group. It is there that Erica posts current product releases, and what to look for next. Tap this link, and get yourself invited to the club!

What would you like to see next? As always, thank you for being here, and reading my Delightful Ramblings.

July Empties!

I am so excited to have some empties to share with you all! I have been using products, but it is nice to finally see some empties rolling through! Also, August is my BIRTHDAY month!! It is LEO season, and I am here for it! Any other August babies out there? Show some love in the comments!

Eva-Nyc Clean It Up Shampoo: This shampoo was nothing to write home about. I did not love it and I did not hate it. It cleaned my hair, but it did not do anything special. I would not repurchase it and I do not recommend it.

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Carousel Shower Gel: This was the first shower gel that Ahhh Sugar Sugar ever put out and it came out in a Box of Sugar! I have been holding on to this for years now, and I felt like it was time to use it up. I did enjoy this shower gel. It lathered nicely and moisturized the skin. I would not repurchase this though. I far prefer the bath frostings.

LUSH Kitchen Maypole Body Lotion: I love the LUSH Kitchen body lotions, and I wish they continued to make them. This lotion moisturized well, soaked into the skin and did not leave a greasy feeling. This smelled like sweet mint and the fragranced lingered on the skin throughout the day. I would definitely repurchase if this ever came out again.

The Dirty Goat Probiotic Deodorant: This is the ONLY deo that I use! This is simply the best on the market, and it is created by an amazing boss babe! I highly recommend this product and I will continue to repurchase this! Go check out my review of this here.

Amika Triple Rx Mask: I really enjoy Amika hair masks! This was super nourishing, moisturizing, and smelled amazing. This helped make my color treated, curly, frizzy hair more manageable and adds back a lot of moisture that my hair needed.

Mad Hippie Advanced Skin Care Vitamin C Serum: I very much enjoyed this serum! This did wonders for my skin. It helped clear my skin up and keep my skin clear. I highly recommend this product and I will be repurchasing! Check out my full review of this

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk

Let’s talk first step cleansers! I use first step cleansers to help melt my away my makeup and give my facial cleanser a chance to actually clean my skin and pores. What are first step cleansers? I use cleansing oils/balms/milks as my first step cleanser. They usually have oils and butters in them that help to break down and melt away makeup, even liquid foundation and waterproof mascara. I have really found that using first step cleansers has allowed my facial cleansers to be more effective!

I did not have high hopes for Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk. I love their body care items, but I did not believe that they could do skincare. Man, did they surprise me! This cleansing milk breaks down all of my makeup, even waterproof mascara, and gives my skin a nice clean base for my facial cleanser to work. Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk is not harsh and does not strip the skin like some facial oils can do. It smells lightly of peaches and leaves a faint minty/tingly feeling on the skin.

Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk has peach and goji berry extract in it that is high in antioxidants and vitamins A and C which is important for cell renewal. It also has Oxyginseng Technology that is an organic complex that helps increase circulation and cell respiration, and also speeds oxygen and nutrient delivery to help fight aging and re-energize skin. I believe this is why my skin feels slightly minty/tingly when I use this product! This technology is increasing my circulation and oxygen levels in my skin so that it can receive those nutrients quicker and more effectively.

This product comes in a pump, which is just amazing! You can control how much product you get, and it is super easy to use. It also is super cost effective! Most first step cleansers that I buy are around $20 and I get less than 8 oz of product. Soap and Glory Cleansing Milk is $12 and you get over 11 oz of product. Talk about awesome! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking into a new first step cleanser to try or would just like a quick and easy way to remove makeup. What first step cleansers do you use or how do you like to remove your makeup at night? Let me know in the comments!
