October Box of Sugar: Falling leaves & pumpkins please!

This is a good ole’ Box of Sugar! I love all of the products in this box, plus the scents are all winners in my book! It is amazing that we regularly get to try new products, and it is always a treat to receive a bath bomb!

An Ode to Asheville: This scent is soooo good! I cannot get enough of it! This is scented in toasted marshmallows, crisp fir, smoldering woods, and rich vanilla. To my nose, I get the toasted marshmallows and vanilla at the front with the woods and fir below it all to make it not so sweet. This is a shimmering whipped meringue, so it adds a hint of sparkle that makes such a nice touch!

A Drive in the Fall Bath Bomb: This beautiful bath bomb has all the colors of the falling leaves. I cannot wait to see this in the water. This has scent notes of mountain air, rain, snow, and lemon. This is such a fresh scent, and perfect for the dream of this bath bomb.

Meet Me at the Orchard Body Batter: NEW PRODUCT ALERT! To my knowledge, this is a super scrubby, sudsy, moisturizing sugar scrub. I am very excited to try this and see how it compares to their coveted sugar scrub! This has scent notes of apple, cedar wood, cinnamon, peach, and pipe tobacco. This smells like fall in a jar! To my nose, I smell apples and sweet peach with cinnamon. The cedar wood and pipe tobacco softens everything out and makes it not so sweet.

Bless this Hot Mess Bath Frosting: I am very excited to grow my “travel size” bath frosting collection! They are so cute and perfect for traveling, gifting, or trying a new scent. This is scented in toasted pumpkin, green apple, marshmallow and brown sugar. I never used to be a fan of pumpkin scents, but the pumpkin blends that Ahhh Sugar Sugar continues to bring out has changed my mind! This smells like a baked fall pie. You get the tartness from the green apples, with the warmth from the pumpkin and marshmallow, and the sweetness of the brown sugar.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this month’s BOS and I am very excited to try the new Body Batter. It is boxes like this that make me excited for what is next with Ahhh Sugar Sugar. What did you think of this month’s BOS? Any scents or products you really love? As always, thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

The Dirty Goat: 1975 Deep Conditioning Hair Mask

I love hair masks! I routinely use them in place of conditioner throughout the week and they work wonders for my hair. I have had my eye on The Dirty Goat’s hair mask for some time now, and rave review after rave review continued to peek my interest. I was lucky enough to pick one up off of a destash page for a discounted price so that I could give it a try. Man, does it hold up to all the rave or what!

This hair mask is thick and creamy, which is just what you want to see in a hair mask. It spreads easily throughout the hair to evenly coat all your strands. It rinses out well and does not leave your hair greasy, but silky smooth and tangle free. My hair becomes very difficult to work with once wet, which is why I love and use hair masks. This hair mask allows me to work a brush through my hair or even let it air dry without becoming a frizzy mess. This product is one that would easily help dry and damaged hair becomes more manageable and smooth, which is the dream.

The 1975 scent has scent notes of mandarin, casis, amber, pink jasmine, vanilla and tonka beans. To my nose, I pick up a woodsy amber scent that is elevated by the jasmine and vanilla. This is not a scent I would normally go for, but I really enjoy it in this format. It perfumes the hair nicely, but is not overpowering, so anything you put on afterwards will still shine.

I very much enjoyed this hair mask, and I can see now why everyone goes crazy for it. The one thing that would keep me from repurchasing this is the price. It is $20 for 5oz of product. I have hair down to my butt and I use a lot of conditioner. For me personally, I cannot justify this as a regular purchase. For others who maybe use hair masks as the treat they are and are not a savage with them like me, I could totally see this being more reasonable.

Have you tried this product? What other products would you like to see me review on here? Let me know in the comment section! As always, thank you for being here and reading my delightful ramblings.

The Dirty Goat Sulfate Free Shampoo and Body Wash

I have been very interested in trying some of The Dirty Goat hair care products for some time now, and I was lucky enough to receive one of her sulfate free Shampoo and Body Wash in a recent mystery bag. I have been using this product on and off for a few weeks, and wanted to share my thoughts and experiences on this product.

This is scented in Bad At Love, which is a new to me scent and one that I really enjoy. It has scent notes of white washed woods, citrus leaves, vetiver, and tonka beans. It is a woodsy almost musky scent that is lifted by the citrus and sweetness of the tonka. Erica makes this product in all types of scents though, so if this scent is not for you don’t fret!

My first reaction to this product is that it is very liquidy, almost surprisingly so. Most shampoos and body washes have a level of thickness to them that this product is missing. I am not sure if that is because it is sulfate free or if that is just the formulation of Erica’s recipe. Either way, it is not a deal breaker for me and the product, just an observation.

I struggled to run this shampoo through my hair. It is like the product did not want to move from the one spot that it was put on my head and so I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get it to move throughout my hair enough for it is cover the majority of my head. This shampoo did cleanse my hair well, and did not leave my hair feeling overly dry or tangly like other sulfate free shampoos do, but it just did not seem to want to move through my hair. It was an odd experience, and one that I do not remember experiencing before with other shampoos. This could totally be user error, and I would love any thoughts you have on this product or others like it.

I have not tried this as a body wash, but I imagine that it would work just fine! It gives a nice cleansing experience. It is my understanding that this product is typically used as a shampoo, and not as a body wash, which is why I went the route of shampoo first.

I think this was a great dip into The Dirty Goat’s hair care products, and I am excited to continue to explore what Erica and her brand has to offer. The next product I am very interested in trying her sea salt shampoo! Have you tried this shampoo? What do you think? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments below! Thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

The Dirty Goat: Practical Magic Seasonal Box

The Dirty Goat has made her first seasonal box! This is a Halloween, Practical Magic themed box that came with five products and a quote from the movie. I personally love the quote and it will be something that I put up in my office. The products that came in this box are beautiful and play into the Practical Magic theme well. All of these products and scents are new to me, which adds to the surprise and magic of the box.

Aunt Jet’s Bella Donna Bath and Body Oil: This oil can be used in the bath to add extra moisture to a long soak, or straight to the skin. This is scented in madagascar vanilla, cedarwood, musk, and lemon. This is a very warm musky scent with the cedarwood and musk leading. The vanilla helps give it a touch of sweetness and the lemon makes sure it does not get too musky. I think this would add such a special touch to a nice warm bath, and I cannot wait to get it in the tub.

All Hallows Eve Car Freshener: I really love this idea of having my favorite scents as car fresheners now. I think it is so great that The Dirty Goat is stepping into those spaces of “household” goods. This is scented in cinnamon buns, icing, and fresh vanilla bean. I love this! I am a big fan of cinnamon, and this is right up my ally. This will be hanging in my car all winter long!

Lavender Gates Room and Linen Spray: I have recently really gotten into room and linen sprays. They are such an easy way to freshen up a space and give it a little special touch! Lavender Gates is scented with lavender, vanilla, musk, and patchouli. This is a warm lavender scent with the lavender being an herbal lavender and not a sweet lavender. The musk adds to the lavender scent and the vanilla helps give some sweetness.

Jimmy Angelou Cologne Balm: I like to use solid fragrances when I am just doing things around the house or getting ready for bed. I use them like touch points to help ground and relax my mind. I could not find the scent notes for this on her website, but this scent smells slightly clean, herbal and not too musky. The balm is very soft, which helps with the ease of applying this. The scent is not very strong though, which is kinda a bummer.

Midnight Margaritas Lip Balm: Guys, I go through chapsticks like nobody’s business. I am stoked to have a huge lip balm to use and abuse, especially with the colder months coming up. This balm is very soft and moisturizing. I also could not find this one on her scent list, but to me, this smells like sweet, gummy lime candies. This scent reminds me of Calacus from LUSH. I enjoy this scent in this format, and it makes me want other scents in lip balm form.

Overall, I think this was a solid first box. It can be tough to create something like a seasonal box from scratch, especially with everyone’s thoughts and opinions on what it should or should not be. I like the scents and products that we received, and I am excited to try some of these new to me products. I cannot wait to break open that car freshener, and the lip balm has already been used! What did you think of this first box? Did you find any new favorites? As always, thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

August Box of Sugar: Excuse me while I kiss the sky.

Whoa, late posting of the Ahhh Sugar Sugar Box of Sugar! We are at the end of September, but better late than never! Did this month just totally fly by anyone else? Every time I would look at a calendar, I was shocked! It is just going to keep going, friends. We are about to hit the holidays, hold on tight! Now back to this BOS. I love the theme for this box! I am an August baby, and something about August always makes me think of the night sky. Those summer nights that seem to stretch on and on, and the peacefulness of the summer sky. You just cannot compare. I am glad that someone else thought to pair August with the night sky/galaxy.

Dark Side of the Moon Bath Frosting: This is a beautiful frosting that is made up of blue, purple, and white that are all swirled together to give us that galaxy effect. It has this amazing black label on it, with a cut out of the moon and a black hole. It is one of a kind. It is scented in crisp air, fresh rain, mandarin, and bergamot. It smells like the moments after a big summer storm. Anyone else know that scent? It has a slightly sweeter note from the mandarian, but the fresh rain and crisp air really make a statement. It is beautiful.

Nova Silky Dry Oil: I have recently gotten into dry oils, and they are amazing! This product does not leave you oily or greasy, but moisturizes the skin and leaves you feeling nourished. The scent also stays with the skin nicely, which is kinda surprising for how light the oil is. This is scented in earl grey tea, apple blossom, and pink champagne. I REALLY enjoy this scent and would love to see it back in the future. You get the apple and pink champagne, but it never gets too sweet. As you smell it, you might feel it getting too sweet, but the earl grey keeps everything balanced.

StarGazer Solid Bubble Bath: I have come to love Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s bubble bars. They always smell amazing, and they create such soft water and bubbles. This is colored after the bath frosting, and it is beautiful. This is scented in blue raspberry slushie, and smells just like the sweet candy scent. It will be nice to use this in a bath cocktail.

Galaxy Bath Bomb: Again, we have the purple and blue marbling, but with a little pink in the bomb. This is scented in neroli, ylang-ylang, black tea, black pepper, and peppermint. On cold, I get the neroli and ylang-ylang. I am excited to see if the peppermint and black tea/pepper come out in the tub. As with the bubble bars, their bath bombs perform amazingly in the tub.

StarDust Biodegradable Bath Dust: This is a vial of silver fine glitter that looks a little like moon or star dust. This will be fun to play with in the tub, and is such a fun little extra in this box. We are also reminded how amazing Ahhh Sugar Sugar is to the environment and pets. A company I can stand behind.

I really loved this box, and the overall theme. Some of the scents in this box are ones that I would love to see again! It is also exciting that in just a few weeks I will be receiving the September box! Sometimes it is good to do things a little late! What did you think of this month’s Box of Sugar? As always, thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.

August Empties!

It will be a short and sweet empties post for this month. I believe this is the first time I have had a month of products where everything I finished up I loved and would recommend! These are some tried and true favorite right here from tried and true vendors.

Hallo Queen Whipped Meringue from Ahhh Sugar Sugar: I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringues! They are highly scented, super moisturizing lotions that keep my dry skin from cracking! Hallo Queen smells like amazing maple apples! Everytime I put it on, someone is always commenting on how edible in smells.

The Dirty Goat Raspberry, Strawberry, Guava Goat Milk and Honey Body Lotion: This is a super lux lotion, with it’s high quality glass jar. It is very light and silky while still being moisturizing enough for the dry skin on my hands. I used this throughout the summer months, and it was perfect. This scent is just sweet and fruity enough without being overpowering. I look forward to enjoying this scent again next summer.

LUSH Aqua Marina Face Cleanser: This is my holy grail face cleanser. I do a double cleanser every night, and this is the second cleanser that I use in that system. This is perfect for my super sensitive, combination, acne prone skin. It does not cause me to break out, does not dry out my dry spots, keeps my oily spots from becoming too oily, and just overall cleanses my skin. I have been using this for years, and I cannot imagine using anything else at this point.

Lemon Mint Grass Hand Soap from Ahhh Sugar Sugar: I loved this hand soap! It was super gentle, beautiful and smelled amazing! I very much enjoyed using it and I would gladly repurchase.

I was a little upset when I realized that I did not have a lot of empties this month, but then I checked out what I have in use, and I have a lot of products that are close to being finished. I love when I am able to use up a product and move it out of my stash, and am able to put another product in use, it is like a high! Anyone else feel me? If you do, I recommend checking out A Beauty Guru Made Me Do It, all one word though, on Instagram and Youtube. She is amazing with project pans and empties posts!

How did everyone else do this month? Are you happy with what you used up and moved out, and most of all, did you enjoy what you used? I know I did! Thank you for being here, and I hope you enjoyed my delightful ramblings.

Detanglers

I do not buy detanglers, nor do I normally use them. Even when I was a child, I do not remember my mother using detanglers on my sisters and I. This all started when I received a detangler in a Box of Sugar from Ahhh Sugar Sugar. Then I received another one. I started noticing detanglers from different indie brands, and I got curious. So I purchased a detangler from The Dirty Goat on a Facebook Destash group, and I started testing that one out. I received another one in a mystery grab bag. So for someone who does not purchase or normally use detanglers, I am up to my ears in them!

I have been comparing the detanglers from my two favorite indie brands, The Dirty Goat and Ahhh Sugar Sugar. They both work and perform beautifully, but there are noticeable differences in the product that I love and want to share with you.

Both companies detanglers work well to detangle hair for an easier brushing experience. Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s does what it says it is going to do. It detangles without leaving your hair feeling oily or heavy, or like you have any extra product in it. I do not feel like I have to be too careful about the product not hitting my roots; though with any product that has added oil in it, it is best to keep away from your roots. The scents from Ahhh Sugar Sugar are stronger and linger in my hair for longer than The Dirty Goat’s, which is an added perk of using a detangler.

The Dirty Goat’s detanglers have a much more noticeable amount of oil in them than the other detanglers that I have tried. This product works quicker than Ahhh Sugar Sugars, because of the high oil content, but you have to be very careful to only put this at the ends of your hair and to stay away from your roots. This detangler feels more like a leave-in conditioning treatment to my hair; it leaves my hair feeling noticeably softer and smoother. I cannot get second day hair if I use this product, because of all the added nourishing oils from the detangler. The scents for these products are lovely, but not as strong as Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s, nor do they linger as long.

Overall, I love both products and I enjoy that they are different! They offer me different uses, which I would normally not have, and I value the different things they do for my hair. Are there other detanglers that I should try? What are some of your favorites? As always, thank you. Thank you for reading my delightful ramblings.
