December Box of Sugar: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

I seriously could just stop purchasing bath products, and just rely on subscriptions boxes to keep my bath product stash alive….but what fun would that be!? I love the thrill of looking over new sites, with new products and scents to behold! It makes me super happy to see creations come to life, and that is one of the reasons why I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s Box of Sugar! It is a monthly box of amazing products and creations, that I get to see and try every month!

This month’s theme was a countdown to the New Year! We got a bonus 5th item in this month’s box, which was a wonderful surprise! Ahhh Sugar Sugar knocked this out of the park this month, and I cannot wait to try some of the new products!

First up: You’re a Peach Whipped Meringue: Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s Whipped Meringue originally came in pots, but this month they are trying out a new squeezy tube bottle format. I am curious to see how the bottle works. My one concern for this new format is that I will not be able to get all of the product out of the bottle, like I am able to scrape all of the product out of the pot. This has scent notes of peach, orange, melon, rose, and vanilla. I get scent notes of melon and orange, which leads into faint notes of peach, rose and vanilla. It is a lovely, delicate scent.

Gypsy Baby Hand Soap: I have yet to try Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s liquid hand soap, but I have seen pictures of it floating around on their Instagram and I have been curious to try it! Gypsy Baby has scent notes of orange blossom, rosewood, neroli, and sandalwood. I get strong scent notes of rosewood and neroli, with a delicate note of orange blossom at the end. It is a very earthy and grounding scent. Ahhh Sugar Sugar also makes note that the big, chunky glitter in this liquid hand soap is biodegradable which makes it an A+ in my book!

Prima Donna Sugar Slushie: I have only tried and used one Sugar Slushie, and I am not sure how much I liked it, but they are beautiful and scrubby, and I want to give them another try. I know I can find a way to love this product! Prima Donna is beautiful in scent and color! I could not be more pleased with the scent of this: fresh strawberry and spiked lemonade. This is such a fresh, juicy strawberry scent! It is beautiful and I would love to have a lotion with this bright scent! I do not get much of a lemonade scent, but I wonder if that will come out with the heat of the shower.

Hangover Soak Sea Salt Bath Soak: I have recently really gotten into bath soaks. I think they can be a fun and easy way to add beneficial nutrients to your bathing experience! Hangover soak is full of Dead Sea Salt and Epsom Salt to help detox unwanted toxins. Hangover Soak is made with Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s 5am house blend of lemon and lavender pound cake. I get scent notes of lemon with a base of lavender. It truly is a lovely and relaxing scent.

Earl Grey Tea Fizzy Bath Melt: This was the bonus item in this months box. Mine came all broken and crumbled, but that is okay, it will just go into the bath anyway! This is scented in earl grey tea, and it is a lovely, delicate scent.

This was an amazing box with a lot of awesome products in it! If you have yet to give this subscription box a look, you are missing out! It really is a box that is worth the money, and brings a sense of creativity and fun to the day! The hint for January’s Box is “You’re My Butter Half.” I wonder if there will be some valentines products in there! I am excited to try Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s valentines scents!

December Empties

I did not have very many empties this month, but that is what I expected since last month I used so many products up! My partner and I were also gone for most of the month due to traveling for the holidays! It was a whole lot of fun, just very busy. I am glad to be home and using my favorite stuff again!

Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil: This is a very nice oil from the drugstore. It takes off all my makeup and gives my cleanser a chance to actually clean my pores and skin. It has a pump, which makes it super easy to use. It is super affordable too! I have repurchased this several times, and I most likely will again. Do you guys have any cleansing oils you recommend?

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringue in Jacqueline Frost: I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar Whipped Meringue’s! This stuff saves my skin and the scent creations that Ahhh Sugar Sugar makes lasts forever on the skin! I highly recommend picking one of their Whipped Meringues up to try. Jacqueline Frost is a lovely sweet mint scent that is super relaxing and sweet. I will definitely be picking more of this up when it is available again!

Shea Shea Bakery Cinnamon Bun Body Butter: I would not repurchase this item. This was a “just fine” body butter, but I did not love it. I did not like to use it all over my body, so I would just use it as a hand cream. It did the job, just not something I would repurchase. The cinnamon bun scent was a little too artificial for me.

The Dirty Goat Probiotic Deodorant in Yuzu: I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I cannot say enough good things about The Dirty Goat’s Probiotic Deodorant. It keeps me smelling fresh, my pores unclogged, and the Yuzu scent is my favorite! I recommend this to everybody! Erica is also the best and super knowledgeable about her stuff!

LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel: I had a little 100 gram size of this Snow Fairy Shower gel that I had gotten in a Boxing Day Sale a couple years ago. I used it when I travelled, because it was easy to pack and take with me. I decided I needed to use it up during this Christmas season, because it was getting too old. I like the Snow Fairy scent, and I would repurchase this again.

Rose Girl’s Scoopable Wax in Coffee & Pancakes: My partner and I love this scent! We love all things coffee scented. I like to use Scoopable Wax because it is super easy to use. I am trying to switch to all soy-based wax melts, so I might not be repurchasing this item.

Ahhh Sugar Sugar Coffee Scrub in Who Killed the Basic Witch: I loved this! I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar scrubs, and this one is no different! The scent is amazing: all coffee and bakery, and apple. I will always repurchase Ahhh Sugar Sugar scrubs, so why even ask?

I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions. I make goals for myself throughout the year, that I continue to evaluate and adjust. I have a few specific goals for myself that I would like to reach, and other more vague ideas that I would like to achieve.

Do you guys ever have those? Vague ideas for your future? Where you do not know exactly how your future might look like, but you have vague thoughts as to how you want it to look? I have several ideas as to how I would like my immediate 2-3 year future to look like. I won’t share them all here, because some of them are personal, but a few I would like to share with this space.

I have a few business ideas, that I would like to decide on and make a move towards reaching a future goal for that business. I would like to be more active on this platform and in this community. I want to do more, whether that be creating more content or getting involved in creating products.

I would like to travel to Europe in the next few years and see some of the places on my bucket list. I would love to become so familiar with a country, one day, that I am comfortable walking around and know which restaurants and hotels are best!

I would also like to find a more permanent and steady job, or a part time job that would provide more steady income. I work in the restaurant business, which I LOVE, but it can be a finicky place, and not always a reliable source of income.

And with that last one, I would like to work towards becoming more financially secure. I know, I know, super exciting this one! I am in my mid-twenties now, and I guess I am feeling more and more pressure of adulthood and the “real” world. I just see how people can become wiped out in a matter of months from a few terrible turn-of-events (i.e. car breaking down, sick child, surgery) and how people will work day in and day out and never seem to get anywhere. I would like more for myself than that life. Anyone else starting to feel some of that pressure? Or the will to want something more?

I would love to hear some of your goals for this New Year! Please, feel free to share in this space! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and a happy New Year! 2018 is here, and I hope we all make the most of it!

November Empties.

How late can you be on an end-of-month empties post and it just not be cared for anymore? I really don’t know, because I love empties posts and videos so I am always searching and waiting for them! I hope you guys do as well, cause here is my very late November Empties!

Some months, it seems like I cannot finish a product. Other months, I seem to finish ALL the products! This is one of those months. I might possibly have to break this post up into to different posts! We shall see….

Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash: This is my everyday facial exfoliator. This cleanser has physical exfoliation and chemical. This is gentle enough to use every day. It provides gentle resurfacing that helps even skin tone and clear up blemishes. I very much enjoy this facial exfoliator, and it is the only one that I have found that is gentle enough to use every day and gets the job done! I am interested in trying new facial exfoliators, so give me those recommendations!

LUSH Tea Tree Toner Water: I love this stuff and I always have this on hand! I use this toner everyday. It helps to keep my oily skin, not so oily, and it helps to keep my face acne free! Tea Tree Oil is antibacterial and antifungal so it helps to clear your skin of anything that may have been missed from your cleanser, or from environmental factors. I highly recommend trying this product! I have gone through so many bottles, and continue to repurchase!

Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo: If you viewed any of my empties, then you have seen many of these in my empties! I continue to use and repurchase this dry shampoo because it just never lets me down! I tell myself that I need to try different dry shampoos, but I hate to be disappointed, so I stick with what I know! NYM Dry Shampoo soaks up all the oil in my hair, gives it volume, and keeps me smelling fresh!

LUSH Dream Cream Hand and Body Lotion: I very much enjoyed this hand cream. I used this before bed, and it helped to keep my hands nice and moisturized. I sanitize my hands a lot throughout the day, so I rely on a moisturizing hand cream to restore my hands through the night. It has a nice lavender/herbal scent. It does not leave your hands feeling greasy. I would repurchase this!

Simple Micellar Wipes: These are some of the only wipes that I like. They get all of the makeup off my face and do not leave a greasy feeling behind. I believe that there are better wipes out there that I would like more, but I just have not found them yet, so I continue to repurchase these! They are the best that I have found so far!

Witch Baby Hallowmas Body Scrub: I loved this stuff! I have just recently gotten into Witch Baby products, but so far they have completely blown me away! Hallowmas smells like fresh baked pie with lots of lovely cinnamon. This has actual pumpkin puree and cinnamon which makes it a nice thick scrub! I cannot wait to try other Witch Baby scrubs (you all know my love for scrubs!) I will definitely repurchase this product next time it makes an appearance!

The Dirty Goat Glory Box Whipped Cleansing Scrub: I loved this scrub! The Dirty Goat makes an amazing Whipped Cleansing Scrub! I love a good scrub that cleanses has it scrubs off my top layer of skin! Glory Box is a very unique and complex scent, that I smells like maple, apples, and butterscotch. I have a review of it here!

LUSH Aqua Marina: This is my holy grail cleanser! It is great with my combination acne-prone skin! I have talked about this cleanser so much, that I will not bore you with another love post about it! Try it, it’s amazing.

ULTA Cotton Balls: I use cotton balls to soak up wax when I change out my wax melts. I also use them to help get off stubborn mascara. ULTA has great cotton balls, and I like to purchase them from there, because I can get points back from them to use of other purchases. ULTA has the best points system!

Colorado Earth Scents: I used up two clam shells from Colorado Earth Scents. I used up the scent Home and Sweet Honey Cai. I like both of these scents, but I don’t think I would repurchase Sweet Honey Chai. It smells different on cold then it does warmed up. Home smells amazing though, and I would repurchase that one.

Rose Girls Chunk Wax Melt: I used up this scoopable wax in Cinnamon Glazed Oranges. My partner and I really enjoyed this scent. It is the perfect fall scent! It smells like cinnamon and oranges and spice. I highly recommend this from Rose Girls!

LUSH KITCHEN Ginger Body Lotion: This was a nice light body lotion that really sunk into the skin and hydrated my skin. It is from the Ginger scent family, but I have never smelled anything else from that scent family, so I cannot say if it is true to scent. My partner says that it smells like tea, which is does! The scent sticks with you for hours after putting it on. I am not sure if I would repurchase this scent, but I do love LUSH’s body lotions.

Victoria’s Secret Love Me Perfume: This is a very nice musky scent. It was a deeper, musky scent, but not something that would turn sour on me. I deemed this as my “work” scent, and it was the perfect scent to wear to work. It was never “too” much or overwhelming for work. I would repurchase this scent, if Victoria’s Secret ever offered it again.

LUSH KITCHEN GHOST Shower Gel: This was an OKAY shower gel. It has a very nice scent of jasmine and roses, but it was super light. It would not stick with you, and was easily overpowered by any other scent. It lathers okay, but other shower gels lather better. I have had this for a few years, so I was just trying to use this one up. I would not repurchase this.

AHHH Sugar Sugar Lemon Butter Sugar Scrub: I received this sugar scrub in a monthly Box of Sugar. If you know me, then you know that I love lemon scents. At first, I did not love this scent, but it grew on me. It is a bakery lemon scent. It is very strong on the bakery, and I prefer pure lemon scents. I would not repurchase this scent, but AHHH Sugar Sugar makes some of the best sugar scrubs, so I will always be repurchasing her scrubs! They create a nice course scrub that resurfaces and nourishes the skin!

LUSH 9 TO 5 Cleansing Lotion: I had this in my shower for months! I would use it whenever my face would get really dry, and needed an extra boost of hydration. I enjoyed this product, but it is not something that I need. It is very hydrating, and creates a barrier on your face so the water cannot penetrate it. I do not know that I would repurchase this again, simply because my face does not get that dry!

October Empties

I very much enjoying watching and reading empties videos and posts. I like to see what people are using up completely, what they go through in a month, and how they feel about these products!

I did not use up very many products this month. I was busy testing different things, and also using up some of my samples! If I forget to use samples up regularly, they take over my cabinet!

Another reason why I did not get through more shower products is because of this bad boy right here: Ahhh Sugar Sugar Peppermint Mocha Bath Frosting. I very much enjoyed this product! This was a very decadent smelling bath frosting that had scent notes of creamy peppermint and coffee. Ahhh Sugar Sugar packs these jars FULL and you only need a little bit to cleanse your whole body, so they tend to last awhile! I have a review of this here!

I have heard so many good things about Dr. Teal’s bath salts, that I felt I had to give them a try! I used up Dr. Teal’s Pink Himalayan Mineral Soak: Restore and Replenish. These were alright. They had a sort of strong spa-like scent that did not stick around much in the tub. I did feel relaxed after using them, but I always feel relaxed after being in the tub. I will probably repurchase simply because of all the good things that I have heard about epsom salts, but I would like to explore a little more. Any recommendations for good epsom salt soaks?

Shea Shea Bakery Sweet Peaches N Cream and Sweet Candy Apple Emulsifying Scrub. This product did a good job, at being a scrub. It had enough scrubby bits to scrub my skin in a satisfying manner, but I did not enjoy it. This product did not hold onto it’s original fragrance, but formed a sort of chemical smell after only a few days. Both scents did this, and I will not be repurchasing these scrubs.

My dry winter skin has shown up strong this season, and I am using all the products I can in my arsenal to help keep my skin soft and hydrated. LUSH Sultana Of Skin Body Conditioner has helped with this endeavor. LUSH’s body conditioners are thick and packed with oils that coat your skin with moisture and help protect it from the harsh winter weather. I would repurchase this body conditioner. It has a nice, soft scent.

I have finished a whole face mask! It has taken me YEARS to finish Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask! I have loved this mask and it has helped clear my face from breakouts throughout the years. It can be drying, but that is what makes it effective on breakouts. This is something that I have recommended to friends in the past, and that I will repurchase after I finish up a few more face masks.

I like to use curl sprays on my hair to help define my curls and control the frizz. I like to try new curl sprays after I finish one, and there are few that I love. Marc Anthony Beach Spray is not one of them. This spray is just okay. It did not do anything fantastic to my hair. It has a faulty sprayer, so the product comes out the bottom of the sprayer and gets all over your hands and the bottle. I will not be repurchasing this product.

I love Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s scrubs, but this one did not impress me. I have used and loved this formula before, so I wonder if something changed with the new fragrance. I have talked about this on a review Mango Sorbet Coconut Milk Salt Scrub

I used and abused Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer! If you are looking for a nice, natural bronzer, you MUST try this one! It is so easy to use, it blends beautifully, looks natural, and smells like coconut! I do not normally talk about the makeup on my blog, but I felt I should give a shout out to this bronzer, since it treated me so well!

I can already tell you that next month’s empties are going to be much bigger than this month’s! So get ready for lots of reviews and pictures in the coming weeks! On a side note, is anyone else totally in the holiday spirit? Cause I am, and I am so stoked for this holiday season!

October Box of Sugar: Goggle ’till you Wobble!

This month’s Box of Sugar has knocked my socks off! I cannot get over all of the amazing products and scents that the Ahhh Sugar Sugar team has cooked up for us in this box! They have transformed the bleh unoriginal holiday scents into something completely unique and original!

The first product from this month’s Box of Sugar is Straight Outta Plymouth Classic Sugar Scrub. For those of you new to Ahhh Sugar Sugar, you might have never used the “old” Classic Sugar Scrub formula. The Classic Sugar Scrub is a drier formula than their “new” Sugar Scrub formula. I am excited to be able to use this formula again! I cannot remember the last time I had a scrub with the “old” Classic Sugar Scrub formula, but I remember liking it! Straight Outta Plymouth has scent notes of vanilla pumpkin cupcake, toasted chestnuts, and brown sugar. I smell a very strong scent of vanilla pumpkin cupcake and brown sugar. It is a very strong, sweet, bakery scent. I very much enjoy it and I am excited to see how the chestnuts come into play with the heat of the water.

Oatmeal Cookie Premium Bath Soak: I have yet to try an Ahhh Sugar Sugar Premium Bath Soak, and it is something that I have very much been interested in trying! A premium bath soak is a powdered product with Epsom Salt and European Spa Sea Salt to help relieve inflammation and soothe tired muscles. Oatmeal Cookie has scent notes of warm oatmeal, sugared buttermilk, and honey. I get strong scents of oatmeal cookie with all the cinnamon and nutmeg! I can’t wait to try this out!

Don’t Be A Turkey Bath Frosting: I am a huge fan of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s Bath Frostings. Bath Frostings are a whipped soft soap that has added sugar in it for an exfoliating factor. They are not super scrubby or exfoliating, but it does add a nice element to the shower/bathing experience. Don’t Be a Turkey Bath Frosting has scent notes of fresh pear, warm cranberries, and vanilla butter. I get scents notes of the vanilla butter and pear with a hint of cranberries. I am excited to see how this warms up in the shower.

Serendipity Jelly Soap: I was wondering if they were going to continue on with their “jelly” creations! We got a first taste of their Jelly Soaps in the May Box of Sugar with the Birthday Shot-sky. Jelly Soaps are a lot like LUSH’s Shower Jellies. They are solid, yet wiggly, just like Jello. They lather up very nicely in the shower as soap, and they can also be used to create bubbles in the bath! Serendipity has scent notes of orange chiffon cake and warm funnel cake. On cold, all I get is the orange scent, but I have the feeling that in the shower the cake scent will come more into play.

Prosperity Rose Hand and Body Soap Bar: I have tried a few of Ahhh Sugar Sugar’s bar soaps, and they are very nice! The soap lathers well and the scent stays. They added sea salt into this bar soap, and I love bar soaps with scrubby bits, so I am excited to try this and see how much scrub the sea salt adds! I like to keep bar soaps in our bathroom instead of buying liquid soaps. Bar soaps last longer and they do not have the added plastic to throw away that liquid soaps have. Prosperity Rose has scent notes of red apple, sweet rose, vanilla, and merlot. I can strongly smell the apple and rose! I am excited to see how the scent warms up in the heat of the water. My partner very much likes this scent, so I am excited get this in the soap dish!

This Box of Sugar blew me away! Every product that I pulled out amazed me! Plus, the full sized products that they gave us!!! Ahhh Sugar Sugar knocked this Box of Sugar out of the park this month! November’s Box of Sugar theme is Don’t Be A “Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins!” I can’t wait to see what they do with November’s Box, cause I love me some Elf! As always, let me know what products you would like me review first, or if you have any specific questions about anything!

Mango Sorbet Coconut Milk Salt Scrub

I normally prefer sugar scrubs to salt, but Ahhh Sugar Sugar has made an amazing salt scrub with coconut milk that is super moisturizing and scrubby with huge salt crystals! They debuted this product a few months ago, and it had changed my opinion on salt scrubs! The review of that product is here: 7pm in Charleston Coconut Milk Salt Scrub. I believe that the Mango Sorbet Coconut Milk Salt Scrub is supposed to be made from the same recipe, but just with a different scent, expect that I do not find that to be true. The original salt scrub has the perfect balance of oils and salt to moisturize and scrub the skin. The scrub in the Mango Sorbet scent, has so many oils in it, that the salt gets lost in the oils. It doesn’t really do anything for my skin scrub-wise.

I have found that many people love and enjoy this scrub, but I thoroughly enjoy the “original” scrub formula more. If Ahhh Sugar Sugar were to make another salt scrub with the original salt formula, I would gladly snatch it up! Ahhh Sugar Sugar is a small business and they make everything by hand in small batches. They are an amazing business, and I am a big fan!

The scent notes for the Mango Sorbet Scrub are ripe mangoes, juicy lemons, and red raspberries. I can really smell the mangoes with a touch of the zesty/tart raspberries beneath the sweetness of the mangoes. This reminds me a lot of a native drink I had in the Bahamas that is made up of mangoes, coconuts, and rum. The scent of this scrub is so strong, that hours after I had used it, my partner and I came home and could still smell it STRONGLY throughout our home. I do not mind that strong of a scent, but if you are sensitive to scent, keep that in mind.
